Steps to install the plug-in (Windows machine)

1.     The plugin InDesignSync.zxp can be downloaded by accessing the URL:
https://demo.pagemajik.net/documents/20181/30069487/indesignSync.zxp.zip

2.     The installer  ExtensionManager.exe to install the plugin can be downloaded by accessing the URL:
https://demo.pagemajik.net/documents/20181/30069487/ExtensionManager_win.zip

3.    Open the installer. Click Install menu item in the application and choose the InDesignSync.zxp file and then follow the on-screen instructions.

How to work with the plug-in

1.    Once the plug-in has been installed, select the menu item “InDesignSync” from “Extensions” sub-menu in Window menu of your InDesign application.

2.    The InDesignSync panel will open and a login page will appear.
Enter your login credentials (same as your PageMajik website credentials) and click on “Log In” button.

3.    The Bookshelf page will appear with the list of books that you have access to. Click on a book that you would like to work with.

4.    As per role privilege and workflow stage, the InDesign files pertaining to the book will be listed.

5.    Select the file that you need to work (click the checkbox) and click on “Sync Now” button at the top of the panel.

6.    A progress bar will appear to indicate that the files are getting downloaded to your local machine (please refer steps 10 & 11 for the location of the folder on your desktop).

7.    Once the download is complete, the status column will be updated with status “open” and the asset column will list the number of assets (if any – links, library, template, fonts, etc). Clicking on “Open” will open the document in InDesign. You can work on the document the same way you work on any document in InDesign.

8.    When opening the InDesign document, InDesign would prompt you to update the links. Click "Update Links" button to update all the links.

9.    After completion, save and close the document. Select the document using the check box and click on “Sync Now” button (at top of the panel) to upload the updated document back into server.

10. The system will update the status as “Done” once the upload is completed.

11. To view the folder contents of a downloaded file, right click on the file and choose “Open Folder”.

12. The folder will open.

Notes:

  • Uploading/downloading are background tasks and the panel can be hidden, but not closed.
  • Only the InDesign file should be updated using this plugin. Trying to update other assets like your art files will not work. Other files must be updated via a browser.
  • Once you are done with the project or have archived the project, you can delete the local folder contents manually to save your disk space.
