Appendix A - Page Sequencing and Combining Individual PDFs

How to generate InDesign files with continuous page numbering

From the BookShelf, double click on the book to go to the Chapters screen.

Click on the "Sequence" shortcut.

This brings up the "Sequence" page, which is basically a list of chapters in the current publication. You can move files up or down and define the order in which the files should be sequenced by clicking on the icon before the serial number.

Change the page number type by clicking on the option under “Type” and select the appropriate page type, e.g., Roman for Frontmatter and Arabic for chapters.

To start a chapter at a specific number, insert the start page number in the "Custom" column.

Click on “Save” button to save the changes made.

After finalizing the sequence of chapters and page number type, defining start page number and saving the same, proceed to “Generate InDesign” and then click on "Submit". PageMajik paginates the InDesign file(s) using the saved information.

To run a set of files/chapters to InDesign, select the chapters using the checkbox and then click on the yellow arrow to choose the "Generate InDesign" option. Selection is not possible for a file that does not have a .XHTML version.

Select template and then click on "Proceed". Click on the "x" to close the pop-up once the appearance of the "Proceed" button changes (this means the request is saved).

Click on the "Submit" button at the top right of the screen.

Progress of the batch request can be tracked via the notification bar. As each chapter InDesign is created, the notification will get updated.
